The app’s own terms
Terms
This is the same text Cashvy shows under Menu → Terms, read from the one file the app ships, so the two cannot differ.
Last updated 16 September 2026
Cashvy is free, open-source software. These terms are short because the app does very little on your behalf: it runs on your device, it stores your data on your device, and it has no account to suspend.
Who we are
Cashvy is made by Soul Archive Limited, a company registered in England and Wales, company number 16186654. Its registered office is 71-75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London, United Kingdom, WC2H 9JQ. On this page, "we" and "us" mean that company.
What you are agreeing to
You may use Cashvy for anything you like, including commercially, under the terms of its open-source licence. The licence is the legally operative document; this page is a plain-English summary of what using the app means in practice.
Cashvy is a calculator, not a payment service
Cashvy records who owes what. It does not move money, hold money, or talk to your bank. Marking a debt as settled changes a number in your ledger and nothing else — the actual payment happens wherever you already make payments.
Nobody at Cashvy can see your ledger, reverse a settlement, or resolve a disagreement about one. If you and a friend disagree about a bill, that is a conversation between the two of you.
The arithmetic is exact, and you should still check it
Cashvy holds money as whole minor units — cents, pence, yen — and never as a decimal fraction, so splits add up to the total exactly. Rounding is distributed by a documented rule and the app tells you who absorbed the extra unit.
That said: the app is provided as-is, with no warranty. If you are splitting something that matters, read the numbers.
Your data is yours
There is no account, no server, and no copy of your ledger anywhere but on the devices you put it on. This has a consequence worth stating plainly: if you lose your device and have no backup, your ledger is gone. Nobody can restore it for you, because nobody else ever had it.
Export your data from the menu whenever you want a copy.
When someone joins from a browser
A person who joins a trip by scanning a code can read the ledger and add expenses. They cannot approve, decline, or settle — those decisions happen on the device that holds the trip. Anything sent from a browser arrives as a pending slip and waits for a person to decide on it.
Changes
These terms ship inside the app, so they change when you update it. The version you are reading is the version you are running.
Reaching us
support@cashvy.app for a problem with the app, hello@cashvy.app for anything else. Neither is a channel for resolving a disagreement about a bill — see above; nobody here can see your ledger.
